The 2003 Wildcat Football Season in Review

State Championship Results

The Wildcats traveled to Reno and lost a tough game to Reno High School on Saturday.  The Wildcats were defeated 26-23 and finished the 2003 season with a 13-1 record.  For the complete story check out the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Week Thirteen Results

After an emotional week and a heart felt memorial to honor Edward Gomez prior to the game, the Wildcats came out and took care of business against the Palo Verde Panthers.  The Wildcats overwhelmed the Panthers 41-7 by forcing 7 turnovers and controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.  More from the Review Journal.  The Wildcats have earned the way to play for the Nevada State 4A Championship in Reno Nevada next Saturday, December 6th.  The Wildcats will face the Reno High School at 1:00 pm at Mackay Stadium on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.

Week Twelve Results

The Wildcats defeated the Desert Pines Jaguars 38-14 to win the Sunrise Region Championship.  For more prep information at the Las Vegas Review Journal This game was overshadowed by the tragic loss of Edward Gomez. The Gomez family is in the hearts and prayers of the Wildcat football family. More from the Review Journal    Tribute to Edward Gomez page.

Week Eleven Results

The Wildcat defense came to play on Friday night as the Wildcats defeated the Foothill Falcons 26-7.  A great overall team effort helped the Wildcats to victory.  With this win, the Wildcats advance to the Sunrise Championship on Friday, November 21, at Las Vegas High School.    The Wildcats will face the Desert Pines Jaguars in a rematch of last years Sunrise Championship!  :More prep information from the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Week Ten Results

The Las Vegas High Wildcats were featured on a national broadcast by ESPN 2.   The Wildcat game against Basic High School was the featured high school game of the week for ESPN 2 and the highlights were shown during the live telecast of the Colorado State versus New Mexico game on Friday night. The Wildcats beat the Basic Wolves 40-34.  The game was a tight contest that saw the Wildcats come from behind after the first half and dominate the second half of play. Week Nine Results

The Wildcat Junior Varsity and Freshmen teams finished up their regular season last night.  Both teams defeated the Desert Pines Jaguars.  The JV's won by the score of 40-22 and the Freshmen won by the score of 19-6.  Both teams finished the season undefeated!  Way to go Cats!  On Friday night, the Wildcats took on the Desert Pines Jaguars in a contest that decided the NE region champion.  The Wildcats prevailed and won their third straight Northeast Region Championship by a score of 36-8.  More prep information on the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Week Eight Results

The Wildcat Junior Varsity and Freshmen teams both defeated the Rancho Rams on Thursday night.  Both teams are undefeated this season! Check out the freshmen and JV pages for scores.  On Friday night in front of a sold out stadium, the Wildcats kept "The Bone" home for the eighth year in a row with a 41-6 victory over the Rancho Rams.  The Wildcats improved their season record to 8-0.  More prep information at the Las Vegas Review Journal

Iron Man Award

Stanley Copeland was awarded the Gladiators "Iron Man" of the week award from the Las Vegas Gladiators and News 3 Operation Football for his play as a kicker, kick returner, defensive back, and receiver against the Chaparral Cowboys.  Stanley is the second Wildcat this season to win this award.

Week Seven Results

The Wildcats defeated both the Valley Junior Varsity and Freshman programs on Thursday night.  On Friday night, the Wildcats ran into an inspired Valley Vikings team.  The Wildcats pulled out a victory in the 4th quarter by beating the Vikings 42-27.   More prep information from the Las Vegas Review Journal.  This week the Rancho Rams come to Las Vegas High School for the "Bone" game, the longest running Southern Nevada rivalry.

Week Six Results

Both the Freshmen and Junior Varsity teams defeated the Chaparral Cowboys on Thursday night.  The Varsity Cats defeated Chaparral on Friday night 68-14.  The Wildcats improved to 6-0 for the season.  Next Friday night the Wildcats will travel to Valley High School to take on the Vikings in a league game.  Kick-off is at 7:00 PM.

Iron Man Award

Chris Gifford was awarded the Gladiators "Iron Man" of the week award from the Las Vegas Gladiators and News 3 Operation Football for his play at linebacker and quarterback against the Eldorado Sundevils. Click here for complete story.  Go to the Las Vegas Gladiators.

Week Five Results

Both the Wildcat Junior Varsity and Freshmen teams won their games versus the Eldorado Sundevils.  Check out the Freshmen and JV pages for scores.  The Varsity Wildcats soundly defeated the Eldorado Sundevils on Thursday night 55-35.  For more information and results go to Las Vegas Review Jouranl.

Week Four Results

The Wildcats defeated Leuzinger High School (CA) 36 to 30 in a hard fought battle. The Wildcats fell behind twice in the game and battled back each time and the final time to secure the win. This week the Wildcats travel to Eldorado High School to begin league play.  The Wildcats would like to give a special thanks to Dean Pisciotta of Ahern Rentals for their generous donation of the end-zone scissor lift that we use for filming.   More information from the Las Vegas Review Journal

Week Three Results

The Wildcats traveled to Green Valley High School on Friday night.   Entering the game, the Wildcats had never won a varsity game at Green Valley High School.  The Wildcats prevailed and won 42-0.  All three levels of the Wildcat football program won.  More information from the Las Vegas Review Journal

Week Two Results

The Wildcats took on Bonanza.   Both freshmen and junior varsity teams were victorious on Thursday night.  The Wildcat varsity defeated the Bengals 56-40.  More Information from the Las Vegas Review Journal
